Counterfeiting of Australian Banknotes is at its Lowest in a Decade

As reported by Reserve Bank of Australia, counterfeiting has steadily declined since its peak in 2015. In 2021, the Bank received around 17 thousand counterfeits with a total value of just AUD1.3 million. This amount is considered small relative to the total number of banknotes in circulation, which is around 2 Billion notes, valued at AUD102 Billion.
