About Us

Since the first polymer banknote was issued by the Reserve Bank of Australia in 1988, our sophisticated GUARDIAN™ substrate has been issued on more than 175 denominations and commemorative banknotes around the world, including the Bank of England’s full series of £5, £10, £20 and £50 notes as well as notes in Mexico, Australia, Mauritania and more than 30 other countries.

Focused entirely on polymer banknotes, our world-class research and production sites in the UK, Australia, and Mexico are centres not only for high quality manufacturing, but also for creating innovative technologies that make polymer an even more attractive choice.

These technologies include security features that significantly reduce the risk of counterfeiting and the use of 100% recyclable polymer to further minimise environmental impacts.

In addition, we provide a wide range of expert support services that help to ensure the smooth and successful introduction of polymer banknotes into the cash cycle.  These services include concept design, security feature selection, banknote production, issuance, the cash cycle, counterfeit evaluation, and end of life and recycling processes.

Our Expertise

No-one understands polymer banknotes better than the team at CCL Secure. Others may follow in our footsteps, but there is only one leader in polymer banknote technology: CCL Secure. The combination of our expertise, experience, innovation, and 100% focus on polymer banknotes means that we’re still “the world’s leading experts in polymer banknotes”.

Specialist Support Services

Our expertise goes beyond just the banknote itself. We have a dedicated team, whose job is to offer expert support in developing policy and implementing transitions to polymer banknotes. Services range from public consultation and education programmes to recycling initiatives. These support services are available to support not only issuing authorities, but also any third-party printers and designers they use.

Actively Supporting Sustainability

For us, sustainability is not simply a fashionable box to tick on the corporate checklist of policies. We demonstrate our commitment to sustainability through our significant investment in both global and local initiatives that have a measurable impact. Since its launch in 2015, for instance, the GUARDIAN™ Global Recycling Program has been rapidly adopted by issuing authorities who use GUARDIAN polymer substrate. The Program provides access to research and technical support services that enable effective recycling and a reduction in environmental impacts.

High Security

Expertise in high security is in our DNA. As well as the inherent security that comes from using polymer substrate, we are constantly researching, creating and developing a range of outstandingly effective, innovative security features that can only be achieved using polymer. All backed by expert consultancy and support services that enable partners such as state printers to deploy our security features with optimum effect.
