The Guardian™ lens platform – banknotes as you've never seen them before
21 August 2015
Melbourne, Australia - Innovia Security’s introduction of large format lens technology embedded in Guardian™ polymer banknotes represents a milestone for the banknote industry. The Guardian™ lens platform is so-named because this technology can only be used on polymer banknotes. The technology incorporates the high security base film (called Clarity™C) and uses light being transmitted through the substrate to show the feature effects – paper banknotes cannot use this technology because of their opaque and two dimensional nature. In addition, integrating Clarity™C into the structure of the security feature (as opposed to printed or applied features) makes replicating the feature effect a massive and arduous challenge for the counterfeiter.
This is a true technology platform as the Guardian™ lens structure can be combined with other leading technology or print techniques to create a range of different security features. The Singapore $10 and $50 notes incorporate the security features HORIZON™ and CAMEO™ Lens respectively, both of which use the Guardian™ lens platform but incorporate different printing techniques under the lens to create two quite distinct visual effects.
