The Bank of England’s £50 note, in circulation from 23^rd June 2021, completes the transition of the full series of United Kingdom notes to polymer. The Bank of England’s new £50 note, launched on 25^th March, marks the transition of the full series of English notes to GUARDIAN^™ polymer substrate. The launch marks the 11^th time that a country has transitioned all its banknotes to GUARDIAN polymer.

CCL Secure was awarded this year’s Central Banking Currency Services Initiative Award as a result of the company’s global support for recycling and for wider reductions in its environmental impact.

In 2013, when the Bank of England made the decision to move the £5 and £10 from paper to polymer, the decision was based on 3 years of research into the resilience and quality of different substrates.
