Innovia offers high-security base film Clarity™C as industry standard
25 May 2016
Washington D.C., USA - During his keynote presentation at Banknote Conference 2016, Innovia Security's Director of Sales & Marketing Steve Casey announced that the company is prepared to engage in technology transfer of Clarity™C high-security base film to other substrate suppliers.
“Whilst many in the industry may consider this to be a ‘risky move’, we believe this is the least we can do for the sake of the future security of the industry,” said Steve.
Innovia currently possesses a base material that is proven in the market, uniquely made, securely controlled, inherently verifiable by Verus™, comes at no extra cost to the customer and is exclusive to the industry. This combination of factors does not come along very often, and Innovia believes there is a window of opportunity to allow the industry as a whole to enter a new paradigm in security.
As an organisation, Innovia has come to the conclusion that Clarity™C is a banknote film the industry can own and should have access to.
“We now offer an ‘open architecture’ platform and make available this unique film at no cost disadvantage to other suppliers. Therefore, what Innovia Security pays for the film in its manufacturing process to create Guardian™ is exactly what other suppliers of polymer banknote substrate or finished notes would pay,” said Steve.

“Our customers will no longer need to make a trade-off between superior security, durability, cleanliness, and the environment versus the preference to retain multiple suppliers – a greater number of suppliers enables a competitive procurement process.”
“And, perhaps, the most compelling long term benefit of this initiative is that with a single film being used by the industry, the quality and security of that film can be preserved and enhanced over time. The industry will have access to on-going innovation and development of the film and its verification technology that, together with commensurate security feature development, will keep our industry well ahead of the counterfeit threat for the long term,” Steve concluded.
