Innovative Guardian™ Recycling Program recognised by IACA
6 June 2017
CCL Secure enjoyed an industry triumph when the Guardian™ Global Recycling Program won the Best Banknote Processing Innovation at the 2017 International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) Excellence in Currency Awards, staged during the Currency Conference 2017 Gala Dinner in Kuala Lumpur.
We have seen rapid adopted by Guardian™ issuers with more than 50% of central bank customers actively recycling 100% of their used polymer notes and more than 60% of security printers also recycling.
The program is delivered via a network of regional recycling facilities in major geographical regions around the world. It helps to reduce a central bank’s and printer’s carbon footprint and provides a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly solution to removing used banknotes from the cash cycle.
After receiving the award, Vice President and Managing Director Bernhard Imbach celebrated the win with Chris Catlin, Head of PolyTeQ Central Bank and Print Services, who was the driving force behind the creation and launch of the program.
“Chris has done an outstanding job with the PolyTeQ team in developing this program, and the effort has resulted in significant value for our customers. Central banks and security printers understand that Guardian™ is 100% recyclable and they benefit from the environmental and cost-saving advantages. I want to thank Chris and all those who have supported this pioneering initiative,” said Mr Imbach.
